History
Villa Wolax was completed in 1899 as a summer villa for Johan Oswald Wasastjerna (1861-1938) and his wife Johanna Wilhelmina Adelaide Wasastjerna (1868-1959).
In the 19th century, the cultural and economic elite in the cities became enthusiastic about building summer houses in natural areas to counteract urban life. The location of the summer villa was chosen based on the scenery and proximity to nature, but also considering means of transport. Kuusisto may have pleased the Wasasternas, who lived in Helsinki, because of the regular steamboat route. Villa Wolax's pier is still accessible by boat, but nowadays it is more convenient to arrive by car, as it is only 20 minutes from Turku city centre.
History
Like Villa Wolax, the largest villas were two-story buildings and often had a seaside veranda. The buildings were made decorative and the former glory is reflected in Villa Wolax's living room murals. The landscapes of Kemiö, decorating the walls, are painted by Axel August Haartman (1877-1969). The magnificent halls are perfect for welcoming guests and organizing parties during the summer. It is reported that Mika Waltari (1908-1979) visited Villa Wolax during the summer festivities. Organising parties is still possible in the main building – a hallmark of the old times' grandeur. In addition to the villa, other necessary facilities were built in the summer houses, such as boat sheds, dock saunas and dressing booths for swimmers. Today, Villa Wolax offers accommodation in the former housekeeper's cottage.
History
The last owner of the developer family was Johan von Wright until the 1970s. After a few changes of ownership, Tino Aaltonen became the owner of Villa Wolax in 1997. Aaltonen organized driving events on the Alastaro racing track and brought his clients to the sauna at Villa Wolax. The custom spurred the development of business in Villa Wolax, and since then the place has been developed with prudence and respect for old-fashioned spirit.
The villa's halls feature historical motorsport memories of Tino's father, rally legend Rauno Aaltonen. Rauno Aaltonen has won, among others, the Monte Carlo Rally and the European Championship of Rally in 1967. The site's most precious features, the park-like environment and the mansion style old buildings have been preserved as memories of times gone by. From the terrace of the main building you can enjoy a comfortable and diverse seascape towards Vapparni. Recent investments include the construction of a new boat dock and landscaped beach saunas that can be rented by the guests.

Have fun sailing with stable 8-metre keel boats. There are a total of six boats and one boat can fit four persons at a time. So, we can get up to 25 persons at the sea at the same time! The teams compete with each other, and everyone can participate in sailing according to their own level of enthusiasm. At first, everyone is taught the basics of sailing, after which the skippers teach sailing in practice, as well as give a boat familiarisation and take note of the prevailing wind. The skippers then hand over the rudder to those who are willing. Skippers for the boats are either from the customer’s own group or, if required, Villa Wolax can arrange them at an additional cost.
